Guide rings, also known as wear rings, keep hydraulic pistons and rods centred, distribute side loads and protect seals from extrusion.
Guide rings, also called wear rings, support pistons and rods, keeping them correctly aligned inside the cylinder bore. By sharing load and minimising deflection, they prevent seals from being overloaded or extruded.
Common materials include filled PTFE and other low-friction engineering plastics that offer excellent wear resistance, high temperature capability and chemical stability.
Guide rings / wear rings are used on both piston and rod assemblies across cylinders, presses and special machinery. They provide axial and radial guidance while preventing metal-to-metal contact.
